Grace Shim

Consultant

Grace has been with Insyte Partners for over five years, first serving as Project Manager and now as a Consultant. She has been the lead for Insyte’s work on culture change, leadership development and racial justice. Grace’s deep dedication to her work stems from her passion for community building and healing, supporting emerging leaders of color like herself, and building capacity within organizations so the work is sustainable.

Grace graduated from Northeastern University in 2015 with a BA in International Affairs, Political Science and a minor in Social Entrepreneurship. Her studies gave her the opportunity to travel around the world to Brazil, Ghana and South Africa and work at global non-profits Oxfam America and the United Nations Association. Grace lives in Philadelphia, PA with her partner and their dog Cheeto.

How do you re-generate? Long walks on the Schuylkill River Trail, happy hour with friends at Mission Taqueria and running errands at Target and Home Goods.

What do you hope never changes post-COVID? The coming together of community. The heightened awareness of needing to take care of one’s mental and physical health. And making the most ordinary moments of life into the most precious ones.

What is your superpower? Remaining calm in all situations — even when the house is on fire!

What lights your fire?Social and transformative justice in all forms and dismantling systems of oppression by uplifting BIPOC leaders and grassroots organizations fighting to re-write the rules of injustice.

What is your guilty pleasure? Flamin’ Hot Cheetos — hence why we named our dog Cheeto!

What’s one thing you’d want people to know about the Insyte Team? As an all women, multi-generational, inter-racial team, we are not afraid to be bold, take risks and make mistakes, and challenge our clients to do the same.

What is your favorite part of making transformational change in systems, organizations and people? Letting go of personal agendas and egos and unifying around a common goal. Creating spaces to try new ideas that lean into the future.
