A natural nonstop thinker and feeler, Kyla Sokoll-Ward is a dynamic facilitator, educator, and ritualist. She has held leadership roles in a variety of organizations, including founding her own business as a public speaker educating about the social and societal impact of loneliness amongst Millennials and Gen Z. Kyla has shared this work internationally, on multiple TEDx stages, and has facilitated connective experiences for thousands of young adults around the world. Most recently, she was the Director of the Community Mikvah at American Jewish University where she was honored to create and guide nearly 1,000 rituals across the lifecycle.
Her work as a ritualist has been deeply informed by the sacred intelligence of the earth and the body, and how these two technologies rhythmically intersect. Kyla has worked for a number of organizations in the Jewish non-profit sector and is passionate about creating and uplifting innovative, fresh Jewish spaces that build on the wisdom of ancient tradition.
Kyla finds holiness in the uncomfortable, the ecstatic, the dark, and the beauty of all that life will inevitably offer us, and believes that these elements of life are fertile ground for transformation and relationship.
How do you re-generate? Dance, a big breath of outdoor air, a long and winding conversation with a beloved friend.
What do you hope never changes post-COVID? Knowing that a boring day without sickness is a very good day.
What is your guilty pleasure? I don’t believe in guilt with pleasure, but pretentiously dark chocolate (we’re talking 90%) is the way to my heart 🙂
What is the question your life seeks to answer? How can I know myself and others through the eyes of the Divine?
Favorite place on the planet? Any park in San Francisco with fresh fruit and bare feet in the grass.
