Rabbi Susan Leider

Consultant Partner

Susan loves being a collaborator and guide for those who seek transformation in their own ecosystems and in the world. She is energized by working with teams to vision together in a supportive environment where change becomes possible. She believes that each person and each organization has a unique story that can help to illuminate future paths and growth.

As a new member on the Insyte team, Susan brings decades of experience in the non-profit sector, from working in the performing arts world as an undergraduate music student to working in the education and Jewish communal sectors. For sixteen years, she served as a congregational rabbi: the first woman to serve as Associate Rabbi at Temple Beth Am in Los Angeles and the first woman to be Senior Rabbi at Kol Shofar in Marin County. She lives in Sacramento, CA with her spouse Jeff and she loves being a part of her children’s and her granddaughter’s lives.

How do you re-generate?
Meditation practice is key for me to recharge. Dancing, running and long walks feed my soul, along with cooking slow food that nourishes my body.

What do you hope never changes post-COVID?
A renewed appreciation for my family and the blessing of health. Virtual opportunities for us to connect with people around the globe. Never taking for granted the ability to meet each other face-to-face in-person. The ability to think outside the box.

What is your superpower?
Breath. Forgiveness for myself and others.

What’s something interesting about you we wouldn’t know otherwise?
My spouse Jeff and I met when our widowed grandparents, his grandmother and my grandfather, eloped in Las Vegas. Three kids and one grandchild later, the rest is history!

What is your favorite part of making transformational change in systems, organizations and people?
When we all trust each other deeply and then we have that moment when we truly realize that a different way might be possible. When we move from “not knowing,” to realizing the inner wisdom we each have.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Swedish massage – getting one, not giving one!

What’s one thing you’d want people to know about the Insyte Team?
You will never meet a group of more real and compassionate people as you engage in transforming your world.
